 Designed for longer trips further a field the Waterworks EX is updated in 2003 with many improved features and is well suited for trips to developing countries. Taking the Miniworks as a starting point MSR have added a 0.2 micron PES membrane cartridge at the base of the unit to increase the filtration. The NEW Tech Bit: Air Spring Accumulator The newly designed ceramic cartridge traps an air bubble in the filter housing. The bubble is compressed on the handle down stroke storing some of the pump force. On the handle up stroke the bubble expands pushing water through the cartridge. This Air Spring effect maintains a constant pressure in the cartridge pushing more water through in less time. Features include:- Uses Marathon EX Ceramic Element - Filters out micro organisms down to 0.3 microns removing organisms such as Giardia and Klebsiella. Is 45% faster and has a 25% improved flow rate than existing Miniworks models. Filters upto 1 litre/min. At the same time the active block carbon core eliminates pesticides iodine and chlorine as well as removing odours and improving taste. A ceramic gauge indicates when to replace the ceramic element 0.2 micron PES membrane cartridge at the base of the unit to increase the filtration. The tough polyurethane housing and parts are easily maintained in the field Ergonomic pump handle is now wider and more comfortable to grip is also hollow to reduce the weight.
